Quick answers to the questions we get most often. Click a question to expand the answer.
How do I start a new game?
From the home screen, tap New game. Pick the expansions you want to play with, choose the number of players, and add or pick existing players. Each player can pick a Wonder manually or let the app randomize. Tap Start and the score sheet opens — one screen per category.
How do I add a new player?
In New game → players step, tap Add player. Type a name and (optionally) pick a colour. The player is saved to your local roster and will be available for future games. You can also rename or delete a player from the Players screen.
How does Science joker auto-distribution work?
Science scoring rewards combinations of three symbols (compass / gear / tablet) plus full sets of all three. When you have one or more science joker cards (e.g. from a guild or leader), the app computes the optimal distribution that maximizes your VP — you don't need to compute it yourself.
If you want to override the optimal distribution (for instance to test a what-if), tap on the science joker row and adjust manually.
What is team mode and when should I use it?
Team mode is available with the Cities or Armada expansions, which include rules for 2-player teams. Teams of 2 share strategic interests and tiebreakers are computed at the team level.
In New game, after picking your expansions, switch on Team mode. You can either pair players manually or let the app randomize the pairings. The score sheet shows individual scores AND combined team scores; the winning team is announced at the end.
How do I export my game history?
Open the About screen (typically from the side menu or settings). Tap Export to JSON. Android's file picker opens — choose a destination on your device or in your cloud storage. The export includes all your players, completed games and per-category scores.
How do I import a previous backup?
Open the About screen → Import from JSON. Pick the backup file. The app will merge the imported games and players with your existing roster, avoiding duplicates by ID.
Tip: import is non-destructive by design. If you ever want a clean state, Clear app data from Android Settings → Apps → Wonders Score → Storage first, then import.
The app crashed — what should I do?
In release builds, crashes are automatically reported (anonymously) via Firebase Crashlytics, and we usually fix them in the next release. If the crash is reproducible or particularly painful for you, please send us an email at dje073@gmail.com describing what you were doing — we will prioritize it.
I see ads in the app — can I make them less intrusive?
The free version is supported by ads served via the LevelPlay / IronSource SDK. To revoke ad consent and switch to non-personalized ads (or none, depending on the network), open the app's Settings and look for the Privacy / Consent entry — it re-opens the Google UMP consent form where you can change your choice. You can also fully reset the consent state from there.
Why aren't my games synced across devices?
By design. Wonders Score has no account, no server and works fully offline — that's the trade-off for keeping it free of cloud lock-in and free of personal-data collection. Use the JSON export/import in the About screen to manually transfer your history to another device.
Where do the scoring rules come from?
All scoring rules come straight from the official 7 Wonders rulebooks — base game and each expansion. We strive for exact rule compliance. If you spot a wrong total, a wrong tiebreaker or a misapplied rule, please send us an email at dje073@gmail.com with a screenshot or a step-by-step example, and we will fix it.
